About OpenSAFR
OpenSAFR is an independent, open-source effort to turn the SAFR reference approach into shared, testable artefacts.
OpenSAFR is an independent, open-source effort to turn the SAFR reference approach into shared, testable artefacts: a schema, a conformance suite, SDKs, and a reference implementation.
Why it exists
The SAFR whitepaper names fragmentation as one of the three gaps in governing agentic AI: controls built independently per deployment, with records in inconsistent formats. A shared schema addresses that directly.
Who's behind it
OpenSAFR was started by Danny Thuering, who worked in various roles at banks in Switzerland, most recently including data governance for AI integration, before moving to Southeast Asia. He co-founded Webmobix Solutions AG, which builds AI agents for regulated industries.

Our relationship to SAFR
OpenSAFR is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, BuildFin.ai, or any organisation that contributed to the whitepaper. We implement a published reference approach, and we label clearly where we extend it.
Open by default
Spec and code are openly licensed. Decisions are made in public repositories.
[TODO: name the licences once decided (e.g. CC BY 4.0 for the spec, Apache 2.0 for code) and link the repositories.]
